How We Help
The money we raise benefits Jews in Northeastern New York, in Israel and around the world.
In 2009, over 1.5 million dollars was distributed, providing educational, cultural and social services through some 47 nonprofit beneficiary agencies and programs locally, nationally, and in Israel and elsewhere overseas. In addition, we have raised and distributed funds via the Israel Emergency Campaign to help the country rebuild after the conflict.

The Jewish Community Endowment Fund provides donors with the opportunity to perpetually support unrestricted needs, the annual campaign, fields of interest (i.e. support for the elderly, education) or a specific need or organization.
The Jewish Community Endowment Fund also provides support to our Endowment Development Partners to help them grow their endowment funds.
Recognition is available locally and/or nationally for endowment gifts or commitments. The Foundation for the Future recognizes unrestricted or perpetual annual campaign endowments in the amount of $100,000 or more. The UJC Star of David Society provides national recognition of these gifts in the amount of $200,000 or more.
Some critical areas we fund include:
Education - Fosters a stronger Jewish identity and involvement in Jewish life through support of Jewish day schools, camps, and education programs for children, teens and adults.
Jewish community centers and youth services - Supports social and recreational activities for children, teens, adults and seniors.
Community relations and culture - Addresses community safety and security, and ensures the vibrancy of Israeli and Jewish culture here in the Capital Region.
Health and human services - Strengthens our community's “safety net” to help ensure care and housing for our elderly, and support individuals and families coping with life-changing events, poverty, illness or emotional challenges.
Campus - Fosters Jewish community through Hillel, our agency partner, with holiday, social and advocacy opportunities at Union College, Skidmore, and University at Albany campuses.
National agencies - Our Federation joins together with organizations across the United States to make an impact in addressing concerns, responding to emergencies and dealing with issues and priorities of Jewish communities here at home and around the world.
Israel and Jews around the world - Helps us reach out to the organizations and programs that are working to address local needs for Jews in our homeland and worldwide.
