Howard Pollack is John and Rebecca Moores Professor of Music at the University of Houston, where he has taught since 1987. A native New Yorker, he holds degrees in music from the University of Michigan and Cornell University, where he received a doctorate in musicology in 1981.

He is the author of numerous articles and eight books, including award-winning biographies of composers Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, and Marc Blitzstein, and has lectured widely for arts
organizations, colleges, and universities both at home and abroad.

Howard has received many awards recognizing his professional accomplishments.
