Inspired by a true story of a radical debate coach from Wiley College, Texas, in Jim Crow South of the
1930’s, and a taskmaster, used words to transform a group of underdog African American college students into
an historical powerhouse to take on the Harvard elite. The movie is mainly about how its members, its coach, its
school and community believe that an education is their best way out of the morass of racism and discrimination.
