Soup Shabbat, a continuing tradition at Congregation Gates of Heaven, has always empowered our community in establishing new networks and relationships, fostering critical dialogue, and instilling neighborhood pride. As a community everyone is invited to bring in a homemade soup in a serving container (crock pot, tureen, etc.) to be served that evening, and/or join us to taste a variety of homemade soups, served with rolls at 6:00 pm. We are asking that each person/family donate the equivalent of an evening out as a donation to SICM, Schenectady Community Ministries, and the Rotterdam Community Center. Following Soup Shabbat, NY Assemblywoman Pat Fahy, will be our guest speaker. Shabbat service will be at 5:00 pm followed by Soup Shabbat.
