The Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America’s Capital District invites members and fellow Jewish veterans to a membership brunch on Sunday, November 12 at Congregation Beth Israel in Schenectady.

Beth Israel is at 2195 Eastern Pkwy, Schenectady, NY 12309.

The brunch will be Kosher at the Orthodox Synagogue and include lox and bagels, juice, coffee, pastries and more.

The program will welcome Michelle Straight, the Executive Director of the Veterans & Community Housing Coalition here in the Capital District. The coalition estimates that there are nearly 600 homeless veterans in the region.

The coalition helps homeless veterans attain and maintain permanent housing, achieve financial stability, have access to health care and regain their dignity. Michelle will briefly discuss their programs that provide a resource and ray of hope for homeless veterans.

The coalition coordinates transitional housing, assists with the challenges of permanent housing and offers support and temporary financial assistance to veterans and their families. The program assists and veterans with families to obtain or sustain housing, VA benefits, health care, employment, and public benefits.

To thank our Jewish veterans, brunch is free to all Jewish veterans, whether JVW members or not. Guests are $20.
