All in Favor…

The nonprofit world has a certain rhythm to it. We’re wrapping up chicken dinner season and moving into annual meeting season. The season is filled with “years in review”, awards, nominations, elections, and bylaw changes. Unlike the chicken dinner, there is no fundraising and there is no chicken. But important business is conducted, and there are usually some nice cookies.

A few years ago, I presented what I thought was a great idea—one annual meeting for the entire Jewish community. One big election, one big bylaw session, one state-of-the-community speech. Pooling our resources, we could have some really nice cookies.
Needless to say, my brilliant idea was rejected.

Our annual meeting, and ours alone, will be Thursday evening. I hope to see you there.
