The Nosher

Federation has an “elevator pitch” problem. The scope of our work simply cannot manageably fit into a sound bite. “We build Jewish community,” is good, but wholly inadequate.

Did you know that we help fund the non-profit 70 Faces Media?

70 Faces Media has a half dozen or so brands, the most famous being the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA), a respected news source for almost a century.

Today, a week before Rosh Hashana, I want to share with you about one of its newer brands, The NosherFrom its website, “The Nosher offers a dazzling array of new and classic Jewish recipes and food news, from Europe to Yemen, from challah to shakshuka and beyond.”

If you haven’t prepared your Rosh menu yet, the website is filled with customary Rosh Hashanah foods from around the globe. I’m thinking about trying the Iraqi apricot meatballs and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

The site is educational, and for me, inspirational. I recommend checking it out.

I’ll likely be in the kitchen next Friday, so I’ll offer my New Year’s greetings today. May we all be inscribed for a good year ahead.
