Join our team as an administrative assistant and play a key role in supporting the senior leadership team, teachers, students and their families. At the Hebrew Academy of the Capital District (HACD), we are educating the next generation of community leaders to address the challenges of the 21st century.This position is located on-site at 100 Academy Road, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12208.

The primary role of the administrative assistant is to increase the effectiveness and productivity of senior leadership who have oversight for the academic, institutional advancement, and daily operations of HACD. You will report to the Head of School and the Director of Business and Development.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative:
Serve as first point of contact for the school; admit and greet visitors
Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries; direct to appropriate staff person as needed
Log and distribute daily attendance and dismissal (carpool/ bus list/aftercare) notices. Serve as direct contact for transportation departments of the public schools who transport our students.
Maintain student health records (with assistance from district nurse)
Arrange for substitutes as needed for teachers and for aftercare staff
Work with BOCES to order textbooks (as well as Judaic Studies material as designated)
Create field trip permission slips as needed; arrange transportation when needed
Assist teachers and students with photocopying
Administer first aid in the absence of the school nurse (CPR/First Aid)
Publicize after school classes; maintain sign-up list
Maintain and update the school calendar

Outreach, “Inreach”, Public Relations:
Assist in the publication of the weekly newsletters. Collect items for inclusion, create schedule for submission of articles
Assist in publicizing school events, such as celebrations, Parent Org activities
Assist in the planning of major school-wide events, including but not limited to How to Raise a Mensch, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, Attitude of Gratitude Oneg and other Life and Legacy events, Science Fair, Graduation.
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School and the Director of Business and Development

Qualifications and Skills:
Effective interpersonal, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities with attention to detail
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams, Google Docs, and Familiarity with Jupiter Ed a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands
Ability to maintain confidential information
High School or equivalent degree
2+ years of successful administrative support experience
Comfortability to work in a culturally and religiously diverse environment

Salary and Benefits:
Salary range: $25,000-$35,000 (30 hours per week)
